I'm a Doppelganger

I got used to being told I look like people, but it wasn't until I moved to China that I was told I resembled anyone famous. Is it considered a compliment when they choose to say I look like Vladamir Lenin or Karl Marx? I've encountered this a few times now.

Not any more. During the Cultural Revolution, it would be cool to look like Vlady or Dumb Karl. But so many Chinese are revisiting their history and concluding the Communists were/are a pack of lying frauds. Nothing more than aristocrats dressed up like peasants.

If i were you, I'd get some makeup and hair dye and make myself look like Reagan. or maybe Nixon.

Hmm, I'm in agreement with Playwrighter, but I'd think people would compare Americans to celebs, like Brad Pitt or something. But maybe they don't know who he is (or other celebs). Definitely don't try to look like Bush!

Do they ever say L. Ron Hubbard or Freddie Laker? Sorry, but I just had to ask.

David Alan Grier, I think, did a standup comic act about going to China and being mistaken for every famous black man in history. I happen to be white, in case you care, but that's what I think I remember an African American saying.
